Businesses from every sector are being encouraged to check for legislative changes that could affect their company, as today is the common commencement date for regulations.

Government departments issue business regulations bi-annually, on April 6 and October 1. This April, many changes aim to reduce or simplify regulation.

Business Link has created a summary overview of the changes that come into force to help businesses identify those that are relevant to them. To view all regulations coming into force, you can visit www.businesslink.gov.uk/ccd.

Mercedes Clark-Smith, head of customer proposition at BusinessLink.gov.uk, said: “The common commencement date is a hugely important day in the calendar and we are urging all businesses, from every sector, to check online to see if they need to take action.  The Business Link website provides businesses with clear guidance to help them comply with the changes.”

Businesses can also sign up to receive regular e-mail updates on new and changing regulations at http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/ruLanding ; or they can set up a personalised regulation checklist allowing them to see which existing regulations are specific to their type of business at businesslink.gov.uk/regulationchecklist.
