Hi all, can anyone help please...!
I am considering opening a designer clothes outlet probably in the Leeds area. As far as the actual retailing and shop management is concerned I am fine about. I have worked in Sales and Retail for nearly 10 years and I have some really good (I hope!) ideas with regards to the format of the shop and additional services that it could offer.
The problem I have at the moment is that I have no idea where to start with regards to actually getting stock in. Do I need to contact the designers / manufacturers direct such as Diesel, Evisu, Duffer, etc or is there a third party supplier I can obtain the product through.
Do wholesalers or suppliers sell these lines to outlets or do the designers have agents?
Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi TIA,
I have been in the same position as youself as I am opening a clothing stoire too.
I contacted as many designers as possible and they are quite helpfull. Many top brands have distributors in the UK and they will be happy to pass on their information for you to contact. One distributor may also represent several designers.
You can also go to fashion wholesalers where you can buy your stock from too.
Why dont you look on the wholesale section of the startups website, its quite helpful

Thanks for the advice. I am still in the embrionic stages of this and I reckon it would be up and running until at least the beginning of next year.
How do you feel about dropping me an email and possibly exchanging notes, etc - There are some grey areas of business that I am still unsure about and to be honest I wouldn't even know where to start by asking someone and would really appreciate the help.
