hi, Im new at this business game, and buy new I mean about to set up.
I was just wondering whats the difference between a wholesaler and a supplier.
A wholesaler is this just a place where you can go to buy stock whereas a supplier is not a physical building just the term given to the source of stock for a company. Is this right?
Cheers, hope you can help

Hi Doc,
Well...from my experience the wholesaler could just be a glorified name for a retailer with lower prices than most retailers. I am origionally from the restaurat business and my "Supplier" was Sysco foods. They are a wholesale supplier. I believe the keyword would be, you want a supplier. Try the manufactorer first. Then if they wont supply you, they will usually refer you to their preferred wholesalers that they supply. THAT would be whom you want to "supply" you.
Good luck with your venture.
John

Hi Doc
I'm new too. Have yet to open a business bank account.
I've been finding it really hard to find good suppliers/wholesalers. I've been trawling through site after site and majority you have to register before you can look at their lines. I have eventually found a supplier and they have been great and have recommended other suppliers that supply different stock to themselves.
I wish you good look with your business venture.
Lisa
