A one-woman ironing and laundry business has surprised everyone by scooping the title of Best Business Name 2004.

The accolade organised by Yellow Pages, awards entrepreneurs who help their cause by inventing the most original and eye catching name for their business.

Winner Judy White who got the inspiration for her Bristol based launderette, Crease Lightning, from the film Grease.

The title was awarded by an ‘expert’ and eclectic panel of judges ranging from the spheres of comedy, Laurance Miller, managing director of Jongleurs Comedy Clubs to the world of psycology, Dr Tim Denison.

On being awarded with the national honour of best business name, as well as £5,000 pounds, Judy White said, “I came up with the name because I am a massive Grease fan, I even wear my hair like Olivia Newton John does in the movie.

“Having the UK’s best business name really is something to treasure and I’d like to thank Yellow Pages for organising the competition.”

Regional heats produced a shortlist of thirteen finalists with nominations such as NorthEast entertainers ‘Amps and Decks’, arborists ‘Tree Amigo’s’ and record store the ‘Vinyl Resting Place’.

Richard Duggleby, head of external relations at Yell, said: “Yellow Pages directories are full of businesses with ingenious names and we simply wanted to recognise and reward the best.

“Crease Lightning caught the judges attention with its witty tribute to a well loved film.”

Though the awards may seem like just a bit of fun, the lesson to be learnt is that time taken to invent an original  business name will catch the eye of more prospective customers.
