Hello all,
I'm completely new to the start-ups industry and don't have any business qualifications or experience.
I do however have a great new business idea, an additional service to be provided to distance travellers at motorway service stations.
Although the idea is unique (as far as I know) and has great potential I don't intend to carry it though myself.
Who can I take my idea to sell?
+Are there companies that specialise in buying ideas?
+Should I directly aproach companies such as Moto and Welcome Break?
How can I secure my idea?
+From theft by those I discuss my idea with
+From competing companies who 'might beat me to it'
Thanks all,
Shady

This thread on Ecademy may interest you in that case - its from the owner of I Want One Of Those.com who is saying he has £50k to invest in a new business and asking people what they are considering starting up.

You could ask potential investors to sign a non-disclosure agreement to prevent them using your idea. However, once it's running, it will be difficult to prevent copy-cat operations. You may have difficulty selling an idea that has not been proven so you might have to start running it yourself to prove it works. Hope this helps. Good luck with it.

Hi Shady,
Is your idea something that can be patented?? or is it a sales idea??
If I where you I'd try and get some free advise(if its possible to get free advise!!) from a solicitor, and maybe get your thoughts in writing, and
get them to witness and date it , before you aprroach bigger companies with your ideas. No idea how much this will cost you???
I am not really sure what to do, but I would consult someone
proffessional, about it, though maybe someone on this site
might give you more help, as I am just guessing here!!!
I have a great idea, but it needs to be patented, as I cant affford
to get it patented, Theres a company who advertise on TV for
invention ideas, I guess yours is more of a sales idea????
Good Luck anyway, chocpiggy
