Hi,
I own and operate an Italian web site dedicated to tablet PCs: www.tabletpc.it. I'm doing this 'on the side' as it's not generating any revenue.
It's the only Italian web site on tablet PCs (a technology that is going to be available in the Italian market at the end of the year) and traffic is low but growing fast as more and more Italian become curious about tablets. 40% of my traffic comes from those who type the URL directly in the browser expecting a Microsoft site [

]. So I think that tabletPC.it has potential.
I will be running a competition together with a partner (hopefully someone like Acer) giving away a tablet PC. This will be a great opportunity for me to announce the site to the media and get people to register.
But before I do anything like this I should set myself up so that I can legally run the competition and if I want (the technology is set up) sell advertising banners. Also, I'm paying a part-time web editor in Italy to keep content up to date, so it would be great if I could somehow get money back from this.
My question is this: can i set myself up in the UK to be able to do business with people and companies is Italy?
Many thanks,
Lawrence

Surely this shouldn't be too difficult within the EU.
No experience myself but the UK Trade and Investment site or links from it may help.
This is the Italy page...

It should be just like doing business in any part of UK.
Just bear in mind the VAT implications. If you are selling to an end consumer you will have to charge UK VAT, if to a vAT registered business in Italy, then as long as you have their VAT No ( I suggest you ask for a copy of their VAT Reg document) then you don't need to charge VAT.
