Hi guys!
I have opened a homebased cake-making business supplying desserts to cafes. Do I need to buy public liability insurance? If not, what other insurance do I need to consider?
Thanks!
Ken

By law, just Employer's Liability, and then only if you (or your company, if limited) are employing people. Employees includes volunteers and casual labour if you are dictating their work patterns and activities.
Products liability would cover loss or injury caused by your products (such as food poisoning) and Public liability loss or injury to third parties arising from your activities, but as it is home based it is unlikely that the public will get near you.
Speak to a local broker (try Yell) and they should be able to give you some advice based on your specific needs.
Good luck!
