Half of businesses are not getting the most out of mobile technology, according to new research.
HP technologies has revealed that while mobile technology is becoming more popular, with 50 per cent of UK businesses knowing little about how to reap the benefits from such resources.
More than ever firms are shelling out for IT support, with a recent report by Dell showing that 84 per cent of small enterprises believe IT is a key ingredient to the growth of their business.
However, despite an increase in the availability of mobile technology, over a third of respondents admitted that they weren’t technology savvy, a figure which increased to over two thirds of workers aged between 35 and 44.
Research shows that half of workers who use mobile technology, such as Personal Digital Assistant’s (PDA’s) and notebooks, are not aware of their full potential.
David Smith, HP SME Manager, said: “Wireless technology has exploded onto the market place and many people purchase mobile products for the purpose of mobile working but a large number of them have difficulty accessing the more advanced features.”
To remedy this, HP has set up the Mobility Club that allows managers and employees to create an easy to use mobile office, with an emphasis on engaging with the technology already owned by businesses.
With a suite of free tools, it enables users to make the best of existing technology, from surfing the net with a PDA to connecting to a wireless hotspot.
“Employees and managers don’t have time to work through complex configurations and manuals. Now with a free membership of HP Mobility Club they can set their products up at the touch of a button and realise the true potential of mobile working."
With figureheads of the mobile technology industry on-board, HP is confident that this new facility will eradicate the myth of over complicated mobile communications.
Membership of the HP Mobilty Club is free to users of HP’s Ipaq, notebook and tablet PC’s.
