Manufacturers are set for a boost as an industry body launches a campaign to help businesses beat the recession.
The manufacturers’ association, the EEF, is launching a three month campaign to help UK manufacturers survive in hard times.
The ‘Manufacturing Your Future’ campaign will introduce manufacturers to resources, advice, information and events that address redundancy and its alternatives, energy efficiency and competitive performance.
“Manufacturing output is forecast to fall by 8.6% this year,” said Gilbert Topping, chief executive of the EEF. “But despite this gloomy outlook, we believe Britain’s manufacturing – toughened by adversity – will rise to the challenge, finding new ways to diversify, innovate and add value.”
The first phase of the campaign features seminars at EEF locations nationwide, a redundancy toolkit providing advice and implementation guidance for redundancy programmes as well as guidance sheets to help manufacturers hold on to their skills base.
