Hello,

This is my first post here. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and have been impressed by the amount of knowledge here.

I am setting up offering a website audit service to small businesses and start ups. There are plenty of forums like this one where people share ideas and knowledge on SEO and are willing to help one another out. On the whole, those people contributing on forums are pretty web savvy and aware of usability and accessibility issues and SEO techniques. I want to reach small local companies who can't afford the extortionate fees of larger internet companies and provide them with a detailed report of recommendations and next steps to improve their site for both the customer and search engines. If needed, I will carry out the re-appropriation work on their behalf.

Potential customers might be slightly insulted to be emailed directly and told that their website is in need of an overhaul, even if I do promise to improve their search engine ranking and traffic.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where to advertise other than online? I don't think local press is the right medium to use, but perhaps offering this service to people using Business Link for example might work as there will be a steady flow of people needing a strong online presence focused for both the end-user and search engine, something they may not know how to / have the time to do.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
