Hi all
Just wondering if any of you could spare a bit of your time to offer some help/advice.
I am in the early stages of planning a business based around offering a service to events where a number of people are gathered. So like a wedding or a corporate event.
Thing is, I want to do some market research on the idea to see if it has legs. I am just struggling a little with how to conduct the research on my target market, I mean, its not like I can buy a list of who is going to be married in the next 6 months (or can I!?!?!) and somehow contact them to run my idea past them. Similarly (sp?), for corporate gatherings, who organises these, as they are my target market, is it PAs at the firms, or do most events get staged by an external third party?
Any help would be much appreciated.
PS. Just had a thought right now...wedding websites...they may have email lists that have agreed to opt in to be contacted about services, off to investigate.....

yep, wedding websites, wedding fairs, and yes, contact event management companies, as well as conference organisers, exhibition centres and perhaps consider conducting online polls or surveys (these can be set up and hosted for free)

Lists are available for upcoming weddings - try searching for list brokers and seeing what they have available. In my full-time job (2,500 employees), all events are staged by third parties, but someone in the business acts as project manager. This is typically someone in the marketing/PR department, or sometime human resources for internal events. Again, there are lists available for event organisers, and several events held annually aimed at these people - it might be possible to get a list of attendees (for a price!)
I have been involved with both attending an running events for many years - let me know what information you need and I will try to help - spower_uk@yahoo.com.

Hi nzeaglei
Where are you based
I am in a similar industry, although just concentrating on one or two elements in a supplier role rather than the complete event management scenario - but as far as research and marketing is concerned our paths may well cross.
