Does anyone actually make any money by dropshipping? I've looked at loads of dropshippers for selling on ebay and none seem to offer decent value. They either are supplying products that no-one would actually want to buy, have decent products but ebay is saturated with similar items at the same price or cheaper than the dropshipper is charging, or are simply a con....
Theres a thread on the Offers forum that got me thinking - does anyone make money from dropshipping or is it, as I suspect, a waste of time??

Hello Mally
This was something that intrested me here in Ireland as well. Dropshipping is virtually unknown here.
I always wondered was it possible to set up a site targeting clients in the USA, that was fed from the USA. Remember you might make a small amount on the sale, but if your market is large enough all the sales would add up.

I would suggest getting in contact with distributors through normal distribution channels. By this I mean get in contact with an official distributor of the products you want to retail (if you have decided). This is the only way you will get good margin. With most distributors they clearly outline in their T&C's that they will dropship, however if you are selling via Ebay, they will not supply you.
I would strongly suggest not selling through Ebay if you want a business that will have a good reputation/image.
DropShipping can be extremely profitable, if you had a large client base but without the overheads, there is margin for error. Plus you be price more competitive to win business. Every item you sell makes you money. Whereas if you had a shop/warehouse you would have a break even point.
One thing I would say is that you need a dropshipper you can rely on!
Hope this helps
