My colleague and I are planning to start up a b2b site providing imp&exp trade leads, a trading infomation platform something like Alibaba. We have studied Alibaba and seems most of the income they generate comes from the supplier side. It's kind of difficult at the moment to generate any new ideas -which means we might have to follow what other market players are doing now. Can anyone here give us some suggestions on the business model, or any recommendations of other similar websites which we can study, or anyone who have dealt with those kind of websites can give us some kind advice.
Many thanks for your kind help.
Tim

This is a pretty busy market but possible. I would consider niche products
Also www.globalsources.com I think is another b2b site

Thanks for the info. Globalsources used to be an advertising mag publisher and it seems a natural choice for them to further expand to b2b over ten years ago. Their business model seems a bit difficult to follow cos they integrate three means: ads, show, and web to provide their services. Also their service charging system seems quite similar to Alibaba as they all charge annual fees.
Rgds,
Tim
