Registered Office

I am just starting a new company and need to fill in a section on the form that requires the address of the registered office. The company is Ltd but if I put my home address as the registered office, will anyone be able to take it if I were to get into problems? I seem to think that the accountants can be the registered office is this correct? I just dont want my house on the line if it all goes tits up!!!!!!

There are a number of issues in running a business from home which have legal implications. Just because you have the home address as the registered office does not mean you will lose your house, houses and rights to them can only be lost in the event of personal debt or business debts as a limited company which you are liable for. Or of course you stop paying your mortgage or loan secured on the property. There are a number of places you can use as the registered office of your business including most accountants. You may feel happier having your business address different from your home particular if you have family. A lot of directors sign personal guarantees in the early days of bank loans thinking their homes are protected by the limited company status - this is not the case if a personal guarantee is given.
