Anybody on the forum use these methods of payment with their website? If so:
1. Has it increased business?
2. What kind of business are you in?
3. Any further comments?
Many thanks for any help.
Geoff

RE: Credit/Debit card payment

Hi Geoff,
Many of our customers have seen the benefit of taking payments online via credit card, including ourselves.
We offer three methods of payment to new customers: cheque, bank transfer, and credit card. Around 98% of our new customers opt to pay via credit card.
One of our customers, TheSinglesAgency, experienced an increase in revenue of 1000% (thousand) when they started to accept payment via credit card. You can read more here:

You could also consider PayPal. However, the majority of online customers will want to pay via credit card, and only a small proportion will opt for PayPal.
Take note that WorldPay are able to provide pre-authorisation accounts. This could save you a lot of money ;-)
Hope that helps.
Best of luck with your business.
Dave Walker.

Geoff,
We are in the same line of business (promotional merchandise) and I looked at taking payments via our website for the products we supply.
In they end I decided against it because of the the amount of options available for supplying promotional goods, eg a desktop paper holder, printing on the sides of the plastic holder can be more than one colour and additional options of printing onto the paper. So its not a straightforward 100 of these will cost x amount, I'm sure you will be more than aware of this. I actually had some code written to account for the various options but it was too time consuming to build the database and keep it updated.
As we are supplying to mainly businesses, most do not request payment by a card, they pay either on account or by pro forma. The other drawback being that the processing fee eats into profit margins.
Our website is to generate quote enquiries and at the moment is being revamped to a totally database driven site which we can maintain easier and offer a range of incentives and feature specific products. I noticed you are using third party 'end user' catalogue sites, I realised we could save money by doing this ourselves but wouldn't stand out from the crowd and decided against it. Am looking to relaunch our site by summer. About 70% of new business is generated via our website at present.
Also developing a spin off from our corporate golf side on the business for a golf themed gift/gadget site. This will be targetted more at the consumer rather than business and will be in the form of an online store that will accept credit card payments.
Regards,
Mark
