Hi Guys,
Wondered what your opinions were. With the current economic downturn and a much predicted recession ahead of us, do you think this is a bad time to start up an advertising company? Something like the yellow pages? I am hoping to start something like this (locally) and quite a lot will go into it including walking out of a reasonably paid and well secured job, but i'm wondering whether its best to hold off the "jump" until things start to look better on the economic front... ? Your comments and suggestions much appreciated
RE: Recession: Good time to start up a business?
Hello Aaron
Yes it is definetly a good time to start a business especialy one that acts as an adevertising portal for businesses and also allows consumers to get competitive services.
You might want to check out Quote Synergy: www.quotesynergy.com they are part of the carrington blake enterprise group.

i would advise that you may want to start it part-time initially although it is a ful time commitment. By doing it part-time you have the benefit of having two income streams, however your business may not get the necessry attention required to make it a success quicker.
Quote Synergy is a unique business opportunity that it is aimed at both the consumer and business market. If you have ever wanted to run a business we have over 30 different types to choose from that span B2C (Business to Consumer) and B2B (Business to Business) markets.
Quote Synergy’s full market coverage taps into the growing use of the web both socially and loyally to source and purchase services. With consumer and business markets turning to the internet, mainstream advertising has had no choice but to follow suit. We consider things from an advertisers perspective. If you have a product or service how do you make sure that you are targeting your main customers without having to pay prohibitive prices for advertising.
Online advertising has gone a long way in tackling some of these issues by allow advertisers to only pay when their adverts are clicked on by users (Pay per Click PPC) or viewed (Pay per View PPV). Quote Synergy offers these services to advertisers across different interests ranging from Finance to Dating, from Cars to Travel and everything else in between. The business model offers franchisees the opportunity to run sites that provide services to users thereby allowing advertisers to directly market their services and products to them.
Quote Synergy is a franchise internet business platform providing an advertising network to Companies, Charities, Non-For Profit Organisations, Schools, Networks, Clubs, Sole Traders, Individuals (Indeed anybody) to reach their target audience. Quote Synergy accomplishes this by generating traffic by drawing users to its sites by giving them what they want – competitive services and products. Each site has its own focus – there are over 30 interests or channels to choose from that enable users to find the suppliers of services or goods (Service Providers) they need by auctioning their requirements. The providers of these services and products then compete to win their business. The interests (Channels) have been selected to attract large volumes of users providing a good return on investment for Advertisers. The platform is comprised of a number of grouped sites that work in synergy to offer services to their clients. These groups are known as Franchise Groups and contain sites that focused across the different channels.
By purchasing a Quote Synergy franchise means that you will be work as part of group. This significantly increase your earning potential and customer satisfaction as group providers your users with all of the other services they may need.

If you have got an idea, and capital then why not?? Even if you havent got capital, if your idea is solid then you should not have problem finding it.
Number of startups is decreasing and will continue to decline during recession - which means that there will be much less competition!!

Hiya,
I personally feel that it is a good time to start a business, although the previous post said that advertising is one of the first things togo, the companies still require advertising to make more money, its a vicious circle and if you can provide a cheaper alternative, then you will be able to capitalise on the recession.
We are Telecommunications Business and we provide the whole package, from virtual registered address to call handling on a pay as you go tarriff. We aim to help small businesses start up and get their brain child off the ground.
Even with the recession, we have had new business come through the door.
