I have tried over the past month to purchase a second ADSL Modem (a BT Voyager) to use in my workshops for internet access. I have a broadband link into home and one into my business workshops also.
I bid and won one on ebay for £3 and was quite happy. I mailed a postal order immediately the next day....no response.
I contacted the seller numerous occasions, then eventually he replied saying his PC was broken and he was using a mates, but he never received the payment. I sent another about two weeks ago - and nothing again!
In the meantime I bid on and won another one - this time for £6. I received an invoice from the seller, who has a shop on ebay. I mailed a postal order the next day & received nothing. After numerous emails he has come back to say that he never received my payment and has placed in in unpaid dispute on ebay. I have agreed to send another postal order, but i will register it this time.
Now, I am loathe to give neg feedback, etc, but i cannot believe that Royal mail has lost all of these. Are they all gangsters on ebay or what is going on?
My item was not expensive, but i need on to get my laptop accessing the internet from my business site.

Ebay has got a lot of this going on at the moment, the main thing to do is not to bid for cheap goods and monitor the feedback rating of the seller, my advice if its below 50 - dont touch it with a barge pole.

The fact that the sellers are slack in replying to you i think suggests they are maybe a bit dodgy. I am am a power seller on Ebay at the moement and i would definately provide better customer service, does the Post office keep a record of postal orders that are cashed? Maybe the seller does this alot on the premise people wont be too bothered about loosing a few pounds. Good advice suggested earlier to pay via cheque or Payapl, or send postal order via recorded delivery.
