RE: Business Planning - How do I value customer data??

Hi Nick,
Thanks very much for your response. It does leave me a bit confused though (not an uncommon state for me unfortunately!) as to how I hear of companies buying 'mailing lists' etc etc, and where that information comes from?
Any light you can shed is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Tracy

From
(a ) dodgy companies who don't care
and more legitimately:
(b) people having not unticked the "we will spam you, and our associates will spam you" box that appears quite widely
A former customer list of of great value to any business, this is normally part of the "goodwill". It's worth is greatly varied depending on the industry, competition and the specific company. Rules of thumb would be no more appropriate than when valuing a company unless tightly defined by industry etc.
