The Corporation of London is to host a series of networking sessions across the Capital aimed at bringing together aspiring entrepreneurs, established small firms and the organisations that advise them.

The first of the events will be held at the City Business Library, in the centre of London's Square Mile, and hosted by Michael Savory, lord mayor of the City of London.

Representatives include the HM Revenue and Customs' business support team, the Prince's Trust, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), Prevista, which advises people on how to start their own City-based business and the Cultural Industries Development Agency (CIDA), which runs courses for business start-ups.

Cobra Beer founder Karan Bilimoria will be the guest speaker.

Library staff will also be on hand to direct attendees through the UK's only public library dedicated to business information 10,000 books, 3,500 directories and 800 journals.

"The City Business Library is unrivalled as a public library dedicated to providing up-to-the-minute information tailored to anyone setting up or looking to expand their business," Savory said.

"The Under One Roof event is the ideal opportunity for [small firms] to access that key information and share advice with others in a similar position – and to learn from experienced entrepreneurs such as Mr Bilimoria."

The event will be held on Tuesday, 4 October from 6 p.m.
