as some of you may have guessed i will be running my business from home soon (sort of started already i guess)
what would happen if people who send me things through the post put my business name on the front instead of my own name?
does this make a difference to royal mail in any way - would they need to be advised or do they not really care as i presume all they need is the address?
also, when i send out things regarding the business do i need to put just the business name and address or my name, t/a and the address?
i will be classed as a sole trader by the way.

Hi i use my trading as name and address (it makes no difference to royal mail at all) but have just got myself a p.o box number as it looks a bit more professional

sorry to sound a bit negative but i am one of those who are wary about sending to po box numbers - particularly if its a small business.
there are so many scammers out there you just don't know.
i always prefer to send anything to an actual address.
anyway, so just to clear, i can put my business name and address on stationary and when anything gets sent to me in the business name it will still get to me ok?

Hi! I run my business from home and was concerned that it wouldn't look very professional on my letterheads, etc so I use my accountants address as my registered address. They then send the post onto me.
Hope this helps!

So long as your house number is on the letter it will tend to come through your door just fine, although it wouldnt hurt to have your name on the address too just to make sure.
NB i personally think PO Box numbers look like you are trying to hide something and wouldn’t chose to use them unless it was absolutely necessary.

Most accountants to let their clients use their address as the registered office because its the accountant that deals with most of the letters that go to the registered address anyway. However, to use as a trading address (receive all post not just statutory stuff) most accountants wouldn't want to be spending their time forwarding mail on all the time!
Technically so long as an envolope has a house number and postcode on it then Royal Mail can delivery it, it doesnt even need the road name or town on it. I also agree that PO Boxes do create the wrong impression unless used in the context with the full postal address (ie. to aid bulk sorting such as at a bank).
I do not see any problem if you have your post addressed as;
Your Trading Name
First line of address
Town
Postcode
On the letterheads you do have to put "Your name t/as Trading Name" yes, but on letters you can put either you name or your trading name, it makes no difference.
