Web Mission is GO! The UK’s hottest, hippest web 2.0 companies are currently packing their laptops ready to jet out to Silicon Valley first thing tomorrow.
More than 100 companies applied for the chance to take in the San Fran scene and mix it with the likes of Bebo founder Michael Birch.
The lucky 20 chosen by former Dragon Doug Richard, Mike Butcher editor of Techcrunch UK and UKTI include Huddle, WAYN, Rummble and Webjam. And according to Doug they’re ‘as good as anything coming out of the Valley’.
The trip is aimed at sharing knowledge from the epicentre of web activity (and let’s face it, dollar) and will include pitching sessions, company presentations and oodles of networking.
Michael Birch will be meeting the Web Mission 20 during their trip. He said: “The Web Mission represents an amazing opportunity for the best of entrepreneurial UK talent to visit Silicon Valley, and learn for themselves the differences that make the US a breeding ground for innovation and more importantly successful execution of ideas. With a spark of inspiration the UK has every opportunity to replicate that success on UK soil.”
Alicia Navarro, founder of online social decision-making tool, Skimbit, is one of the entrepreneurs currently packing for the trip. She’ll be regularly blogging for us while she’s out there, and you can read the first instalment here.
