I have just setup a Electrical Contracting Business, which as been going since March this year, problem is I am having trouble setting up a business bank account. The problem being I have a CCJ still active and all the banks I talk to wont setup a account for me because of this. At the moment I have being using my personal account and asking customers to make cheques out to me personally. Problem is that sometimes the customer makes out the cheque to the Business name (AAA ELECTRICAL SERVICES). I am not looking for any funding from the bank just a account setup in the business name so I can pay cheques into it and keep the business separate from my personal account.

Who do you bank with personally? Yor best bet is to talk to them, explain your situation and go from there - they may help depending on what your current personal account looks like (ie if your payments are up to date).
Also, have you tried Bank Of Scotland? They are usually very helpful.

Beware that Business Accounts tend to be expensive. All you need is another seperate personal account just for business transactions if you are a Sole Trader. However, you will have to ask for cheques to be made out in your own name. Good luck with it.
