] Hello everyone, just posting to say I am a new member and find this an interesting place to be. I am self employed and would like to help if possible with anyone who is considering going it alone. I can recommend it even if it's just for the extra time you can gain.
Anyway, looking forward to all future postings.

Simon
I will be very blunt and while I respect you I have to express some doubt over your business activites. I am starting a business and if it proved successful why would I tell everyone else to get in on the act? It doesn't make any sense which is my problem with MLM schemes that do not even say what the deal is on the site.
There are schemes that involved promoting telephone and utility services for example which is fine so maybe you could explain a bit about what your business does apart from recruit others?

Good grief, Adam, give the guy a break. He is kindly offering to assist those starting a business gained from the experience he has in running his. I see no reference to his trying to recruit anyone in this post.
Welcome to the forum, Simon. I look forward to hearing your views.

Well, more fool me for not spotting “a dead give away”. I will try not to be so trusting of people's motives in future.

Sorry Asmustard I wasn't directing my sarcasm at you it's just that Simon's signature " If you don't like your job,ask me about mine.
Forget 9 - 5..... " made me cringe a little, the internet is littered with these types of schemes were by you only have to work six minutes a week to earn a six figure income, the less you do the more you earn, I just can't beleive people are sucked in... I think u should not give up your faith in humanity though, after all it's only my personal opinion ;-)
have a great day [

I dont think anyone was having a go at you but merely pointing out that serious posters would rather not have posts such as the one from SimonSimon.
Following both the links at the bottom of SimonSimons post I could not see how these people have supposedly made so much money and if it was genuine why would the businesses web site not actually disclose what business they were in.
I find this an excellent forum and would hate for it to be used for MLM recruiters which appears to be the sole purpose of SimonSimons post.
I would hate to lose someone like yourself AsMustard from such a forum as you are obviously an asset with over 100 quality posts - not just quantity. Keep up the good work.

Ah well, different opinions!
What do you do Murray Mint?
As for MLM, I just want to make it clear that the concept can work if there is a product at the end but you run the risk of alienating your friends and family. Being invited to a barbecue and taking your "sign up pad" may not get you invited back. Then your family feels the need to get involved to help you and it spirals out of control.
I have seen Telco work well and I became an agent free of charge as my family all wanted to get it so I got my kick back on 4 deals straight away but the idea of giving up work for a few minutes a week in your own business and taking 4 holidays a year is just nuts.
If it was so good, why did the scheme inventors not pay someone £5 and hour to promote this scheme and keep the remaining £50K or so to themselves?
I love those ads in the paper, I made a million buying and selling shares and for £20 I will tell you how. Why? If you can make that sort of money why waste your time teling others? Share buying only works if someone looses. It is a fact, as yours goes up, someone's is going down (on average I mean) so if everyone was to make, where does this extra money come from?
Reall business Yes.
Funny business NO

Hello again everyone,
Thank you for your comments. I am already very successful in my business and that's why I joined a business forum. Hopefully to join likeminded people....and share ideas.
Anyhow, what on earth does this mean " It's never too late to be what you might have been ". very worrying to see this on a junior posters message!
I think you should maybe try to be what you clearly are not, business minded. [}

Simon Simon - I too could go and stand next to a few fancy cars and make it seem as if it were mine. In fact, at a wedding a couple of years ago, my sister had her photo taken pretending to get out of a helicopter (it was a fancy wedding to be fair!). Suppose she could post up a site and make it seem as if she had a helicopter!!
This line made me laugh:
"New couple create a £2000 income in six months".
Oooh, come come now, £4k per year is just showing off!!
What I find strange is that there are absolutely no facts about what the business is or even the field it is in!

These MLM schemes. If people wanna do them then fine. Who am I to stop someone and, who knows, they may be successful if they're lucky.
But the ones that refuse to give you any info unless you contact them (and leave yourself open to the big sell) are plain barmy. At least Tiscali (which I personally don't like either) let you know what you are selling. Asking people to enquire simply because you use some exciting words is bleedin daft.
Personally I think they tread a fine line with the law because they do not give you an opt out clause for you not to be contacted or to ask you whether they can keep your information.

God that last sentence pi**ed me off!
I can count on the knuckles of one finger the number of people who are active on this forum who are NOT business minded!
I eat, sleep, breathe my business for my families sake so don't dare say I am not business minded or why the hell do I not use the PAYE system any more!!!
To all else on the forum - sorry had to let off steam there, I'm back to normal now!

I had an idea towards the end of last year. I implemented it. Earned 2.5k in less than 1 month. I actually sepnt out about £25.00 in total.
I then told everyone about it. A load of people have taken my lead and gone on to make shedloads of money. Even a Forum was set up (by someone else) revolving around my idea(s).
If I'm successful in what I do, I want to share it with others and hopefully make them happy. Money doesn't float my boat.
Perhaps I'm a minority though!

Hello All,
If only we could realize that it's only in the dictionary that success comes before work. MLM I believe has been banned in some countries for the simple reason that only the business oppotunity seller gains. Forget about the flashy cars and dream holiday resorts, some ven go to the extent of photocopying and showing their account statements.
The reason why the practice won't slow down is that anybody who gets disappointed will soon start selling the same business opportunity at least to recover his/her initial investment.
The rate at which people fall for such cheap promises scares me and it's not different from some 419 emails that I have seen mostly written by Nigerians. That a hardworking, serious minded and smart person could fall for such rubbish beats my imagination silly.
Human nature alone makes it natural for someone to make more money as long as the person is capable and not asking the whole world to come and benefit from the money making venture. Common sense when applied prope
