Office staff are renowned for letting their guard down at their holiday parties, but new research suggests some employees may be letting down a little bit more.
Figures released by Canon reveal that its technicians experience a 25% increase in call-outs during the Christmas season, but more shocking, the company says, are some of the items found lodged in office equipment.
A poll of Canon's technicians found that kitchen knives, condoms, stockings, a cheque for £6,000 and even a vibrator have all been found stuck in photocopiers and printers.
Animals too have been rescued from machines.
Technicians reported they have found spiders, mice, cockroaches, bees, a crab and, somehow, a sleeping cat inside various pieces of office equipment.
"Our highly trained technical support team are experts at solving customers' printing and copying issues, helping them to get the most out of their technology - within reason!" said David Smith, marketing director for Canon UK.
"Fortunately, nothing surprises them these days, not even intimate advances from their clients at office Christmas parties."
Nearly a third of technicians said they have had to repair broken glass that has been sat on or fix paper jams containing images that might make some staff blush on Monday morning.
"I had to repair a machine with a photocopy of a man's groin jammed in it," said Canon technician Steven Mannion. "The manager suggested an office identity parade to see who Canon could charge for the call-out charge."
