viral marketing is good. We have some free useful give away products (www.switch-board.co.uk) for example. It allows people to sample your brand and in the future maybe able to provide something else.
It' a start of building a relationship and building prospects. It could be useful information that you give away, it might be a newsletter or it might be a service or product that adds value.
Nothing to loose... a successful business to gain?

A great way to try viral marketing is to make a quirky video about your company and post it on Youtube. Likewise you can try spoof images. Or even small animations that can be emailed around, These things often spread like wildfire. Especially on Friday afternoons!
Good luck

Hi there. I work at a large Media Agency and we use Viral marketing all the time. I don't actually believe the term means anything as consumers make an idea viral, the idea itself is not viral. What you need is a strong idea platform and then consumers will naturally send on the video etc, whatever you think up. Spoof images and quirky videos are ok, but they aren't really anything new and exciting.
Viral ideas spread because they are unique, easy to send on and easy to understand.
