Hi All,
I've been selling online for over a year now and am still un-decided whether to show the delivery/packaging charge seperately so the customer knows what it is or build it in to the cost of an item and display as 'including delivery' or 'free delivery'. That way the customer has no surprises at checkout if they missed the delivery charge cost.
Anyone got any views on this?
Thanks
Jason

Free delivery is such a big plus these days, that I'd be inclined to keep the price of the delivery built in. And make sure everyone knows it's free! Having said that, if your business is one where it picks up customerss through price comparison sites - the likes of Froogle, Kelkoo etc, etc, then it could work against you - therefore list the delivery separately.

Thanks gfoz.
I currently show the delivery seperate so the customer knows what it is. I'm considering bundling it in but I've recently started to use Froogle so this could work against me. Food for thought still.
Thanks Jason

My website www.silverheart.co.uk shows prices without shipping, but at the top of every page is the statement 'Shipping from £1.50'. Thus the comparison price is low and the customer gets no suprises.

I'm in favour of showing everything 'up front.' Most people know if there being ripped off with postage or not. Just look at the varying P & P cost on eBay.
Your best guage though is to check your nearest competition and gear your marketing so you seem to be better than them. You may well get an edge to charge 'First Class' with the guarantee of next day delivery - no-one likes to wait!
Cheers, Nigel
