I have been working in just about any spare time I’ve had on a real-time online poker statistical application currently works on Ladbrokes and Expekt(A European site), I expect to be able to adapt it for use with other sites – it keeps track of every conceivable data a player needs on both his/her play and his/her opponents.
I have almost completed this having done work on this and some related stuff over the last year, unfortunately I have just found it too difficult to give it anytime lately, after many months work on it I am now just too tired after my day job which I would love to pack in and concentrate on doing some proper stuff like this project but money prevents me from doing this.
I think I have done some great work, it is almost completed and it really is a shame for it to be just lying there. I believe I could comfortably have a fully working application in less than 3 months if I could give this application my full attention but I need finance to do this, I do not need any materials (have all the hardware and software I need at home) or assistance well not in actually working on the application though will listen to any advice or suggestions particularly from the business point of view the only thing I need is to somebody to finance me while I work on this. For this I would give a percentage of profits that would accrue from this, I envisage that the potential for this application is enormous, there are literally thousands upon thousands of potential customers for this – the online gaming industry is massive and is growing at a huge rate.
Anyway this is my pet project, I’m not a sales person so I’m not going to harp on about how great my idea is, I’ll just round up by saying it’s got huge potential and low risk and this application is just one part of an overall project that I have been working on so I envisage a suite of products.
I’m prepared to listen to any reasonable proposal, if an investor wanted some direct involvement with the project this could also be a runner.

What's the point of it? I don't mean that in a derogatory way, by the way! I play online with Ladbrokes, and it gives me all the stats I need - my win percentage being the most important!!

Fair enough question I guess. Hope the following will answer it for you.
Ladbrokes does not give you stats on the other players, my application allows you to record other players play without ever even having played them, just by opening a table and running this program it records what happens on that table whether or not you are playing, there is even the option to record multiple tables in one go but this is buggy at present.
Is it easy to tell from Ladbrokes on what day you play best? What time of day you play best? No it's not readily available. My application allows you to track exactly how you are doing and a whole lot more.
The stats are highly detailed I do not want to list everything here as I think I am giving away enough information as it is, I have a degree in Mathematics and Statistics and I know my hold'Em Poker - believe me there is a hell of a lot more to be seen here than you get check on in Ladbrokes, I have every conceivable statistic recorded not just on your play but more importantly on your OPPONENTS too, it's the statistics on the opponents I guess which is the real advantage of this application.
Sure if you are a decent player you will have an idea anyway on how your opponents play but seeing it in cold hard print can only help.
And how about knowing how your opponents play without ever even having played against them by recording how they play.
This is a real time application so the data is constantly updated.
You can also view data offline and study your opponents play.
There are numerous aspects to this project, there is a search engine which allows you to store all the players you like to play against, instead of searching for them tediously 1 at a time, you can search them in 1 batch - this is a fully working part of this project.
If you play in Ladbrokes I think this application will give you a huge advantage, if you are going to play online, why not take advantage of software like this to give you every extra edge, if you're not doing it other players certainly are.
Anyway I'm getting into marketing type talk which I wanted to avoid, each to his own at the end of the day, even if something like this isn't for you I'm sure you can see why some players would love this and that's the whole point I guess of my post is the fact that this is an application that could make some decent money.
Hope I have caught the meaning of your question and answered it adequately.

Yep, and I wish you well!
As an aside, the problem I have with online poker, and I've spoken with other players about this, is that the programs are anything but random. Frequently, the hands are the poker equivalent of a fight scene from a Rocky film! Playing online is fun, but I would never risk serious amounts of money - I prefer to be able to watch a player, read his or her actions, body language, etc.

I was reluctant to reply to this as it's going away from my original post but I find a point you raised interesting.
The point you made about the randomness of hands is something I have thought at times myself, I have heard this too and at times to be honest I thought I have seen some bizarre things but is this just us online players being paranoid or after having a bad run of luck which happens after all or is there a genuine gripe. I have seen counter arguments like you see so many more hands in online play that more bizarre things happen and it can seem like it's not random as a result, also when you are so much more likely to be called some idiot is more likely to draw out on you with a hand he should have dumped.
Neither side of the argument have totally convinced me. I do think poker rooms that make huge money have a lot to lose by doing any sort of rigging if they got found out they would be in big trouble. Anyway maybe it's time some sort of investigation was done into this once and for all.
I'll look into this and do an article on my new website firbolg.com
At the moment I am doubtful that the deals from the major sites are anything but random but let's see what I find.
Anyway to get back to my original post... looking for an investor..any would be interested parties can arrange a suitable time to discuss or demo it for them.
Anyway who knows maybe I'll be able to get this thing done in the end on my after work time.
But if anybody else has any tips on where to find an investor I'd be glad to hear.

Re: randomness - I've played poker for about 25 years now, and in that time, I can recall two royal flushes - one at school, when we found out the lad had cheated, and once in a casino. However, online, I once saw three in less than 2 hours, and each time time the hand beat hands of 4 of a kind!
What got me to decide against playing in the big money rooms (you'll have seen the guys with six figure bank balances, and it's fun to watch!), was when I was in a room of 8 players, and 5 of them knew each other, and these guys were folding spot on every time. I'm figuring they had MSN or another messenger service running at the same time, and were telling each other when to fold, etc. Now there's a great scam in itself, if you can get enough pals together so that it's say, 10 on 2!
Anyway, back to your venture - I think the North American market will be most interested - they love their sports stats almost as much as sport itself!!

I have replied by email to your last mail as there are interesting points to discuss but since this post is not really essentially about playing poker, it's about looking for finance to help get a neat project off the ground that happens to involve a statistical application for online poker play I want to end the discussion about poker, I am more than happy to discuss this with anybody, you can email me at the email address below or check my new website that I am updating with new articles every day at present.
Again the email address is info @ firbolg.com (remove the blanks no spam), the website is www.firbolg.com.
I guess the chances of getting an investor from this post is slim, I am not sure if I should pursue other avenues or not or maybe just bite the bullet keep going it alone and try to get version 1 out there asap and see how that does, I do have an interested party who can market this for me, though what kind of relationship that finalises at is unclear, anyway in short that's the state of play in the unlikely event that a would be investor gets to read this.
Who knows maybe it'll be my website that ends up being a success before I even put my application on it
