Five top London Universities have clubbed together to form a unique partnership to help develop businesses in the capital.
As a result an enterprise conference, named ‘London’s Growing East’, seeks to provide advice and solutions to local entrepreneurs in the city.
Held on the 6 and 7 of October at the University of East London, the event will combine the expertise of Goldsmiths College, the University of Greenwich, London South Bank University, Queen Mary University as well as advice from the event hosts.
The event will form a ‘cluster pavilion’ and will run along side the London Enterprise conference sessions and will offer advice on a range of topics, from access to grant aid, employee training and property renting.
Ed Tinley, Head of research and business development at London South Bank University, said: “This is a novel way for universities to work together to provide London’s businesses with easy access to the expertise and services available across the five collaborating universities.”
London Enterprise 2004, launched last year, is a new enterprise aimed at showcasing London’s recent success in attracting young, innovative businesses to London’s Docklands and the Thames Gateway.
Prestigious figureheads of the enterprise sector will be speaking at the event, including Sarika Patel, head of innovation and technology at the London Development Agency and David Sumner. Programme manager at the Sunday Times Enterprise Network.
Jean Mulligan, Managing Director of Rubicon Communications, has high hopes for the event.
She said, “In the current thriving environment of London’s Docklands and the Thames Gateway, a service such as this could benefit literally dozens of young businesses.”
