The trip home from the airport after a summer holiday is the catalyst for many aspiring entrepreneurs to put their business idea into action, according to new research.
Nearly half of Brits get so depressed after returning from their holidays that they consider handing in their notice at work, a poll by The Franchise Group revealed.
The survey also found that 67% would consider setting up their own business if they had the chance.
“People come home from their holidays to find that the problems they had with their day jobs are still the same, but with the energy and determination to make a success of their own business,” said Peter Finlay of The Franchise Group.
“What we find among the people we speak to is that many have wanted to make the leap and run their own business for years, but for one reason or another, they’ve never had the courage or opportunity to do so.”
Finlay said becoming a franchisee was one solution as it was like ‘launching your own business with stabilisers’.
According to the poll, 28% said they were most likely to resign shortly after their main summer holiday. A further 20% said they were most unhappy about their jobs following other major holidays such as Christmas.
