Ambitious entrepreneurs have been offered the chance of negotiating a £100,000 technology boost for their business.

The opportunity is being offered through a competition launched today for the nation’s most promising high-growth businesses.

The ‘Pitch for IT’ contest is looking for growing organisations of any size with a unique business idea for taking their company further. Taking particular interest will be those small businesses that find their growth hindered at a crucial stage by technology restrictions.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to pitch their expansion plans and IT requirements to a panel of expert judges. The winning pitch will be offered £100,000 in bespoke software, in return for some equity or a share of profits.

The contest, launched today by Compsoft plc and Growing Business magazine, is open to privately-owned companies of all sizes that can show a strong track record and plans for expansion.

‘Size doesn’t matter,’ explained Phil Lenton, managing director of Compsoft. ‘What’s important is that it’s a unique business which will benefit from a bespoke software solution which can support those ambitious plans.’

Initial applications must be made before December 22nd, from which a shortlist of up to six will be invited to London in February 2007 for the final round.
