Just as a straw poll, what keyword tools do people use when working out which keywords to use for their website ?. (Wordtracker, Overture, Google tool etc)

These days, since Google started pushing out actual numbers rather than bar charts, I use Google Adwords tool, with a little sprinkling of Wordtracker mixed in there.
None of these tools provides close to accurate traffic numbers, but are a good indication of what's more popular from a selection of keywords. Wordtracker is very good at coming up with keyword combination suggestions you might not have considered, but it's traffic and competition data is often very different compared to Google's numbers.

If you export the results as a csv, you'll get numerical values for the PPC competition column, too.

I've been using Wordtracker for years and have tried the Google keyword suggestion tool too. They are not very accurate and lack data for local search but oh well...at least it gives a good indication of what people are looking for.

Hi, I use AdWords to check each keyword and the relevant search stats for that month, although the average position stat is rubbish and not accurate

Now that the Google Keyword Tool has started providing search volume numbers, there is no need to look elsewhere for search volume statistics!
