One of the world's leading business coaching franchisors has joined the British Franchise Association (BFA) and is looking to expand its operation in the UK.

Action International is the first business coaching franchisor to join the BFA. Since 2002 the firm has established a network of nearly 100 business coaches throughout the UK and Ireland, and it is looking to grow.

In particular, Action International is planning to add 12 more franchises in Scotland, where it currently has five coaches serving an untapped market of 300,000 small businesses.

Developed by Australian entrepreneur Brad Sugars, Action International aims to help its client base of small business owners tackle the daily challenges that come with running a business.

Business coaches teach the importance of a proper work-life balance, showing them how to work less and manage time effectively to be able to take a holiday, as well as imparting practical business necessities such as how to recruit staff, delegate responsibility and achieve a better income.

"Becoming a business coach is a really appealing option for many people looking to start a franchise, especially I they have had previous experience in management," said Bruce Taylor, spokesman for Action International in Scotland.

"This is because we train them to use that experience, along with their own expertise and motivation, to help business owners - something that brings great job satisfaction," he added. "What's more, unlike many other franchises, business coaching has relatively low overheads and can be operated from home."
