What are they??
We were wondering whether customer testimonials influence your decision to buy/use someones services?
Do you read/believe customer testimonials on websites, and if so do they reassure you?
Our salesteam regularly collect testimonials and now we have literally hundreds. It would be useful to know if its worth putting more on our site.

I think they do.It does give some assurance to potential buyers. But to be honest I dont believe all I read.Once I bought a rowing machine and it gave me so much trouble and when the company sent me their customer survey form I told them the truth. But they never put that on their site.From then on I have lost faith in customer comments.

Hi Josh,
Positive customer reviews are a GREAT converter. You and I know that they are completely biased. Nevertheless Joe Bloggs does not tend to question them and they provide the additional reassurance that he may need to complete the sale.

Depending on whether it's practical to do so, I think it's a really good idea to give the client name and details when putting a testimonial on your site or brochure. It makes it more credible. If I see a site where they quote some brilliant customer testimonial and it's attributed to "Mr Smith, London" or (and I actually saw this somewhere) " a happy customer"...it just makes me think they're completely fictional. If I see a name and company name or better still (and I guess this only applies in the B2B environment) a link to the client's website, then I tend to think the testimonials are a lot more genuine and put far more store by them.

Couldn't agree more - testimonials are powerful as long as they are credible, if your client will allow you to use their name then do so...

I tend to read the testimonials when I am considering buying a product or service online. I think it definately puts an human element to the product.
