What do you do about your phone number? I always think that advertising with only a mobile number looks a bit 'fly by night' so want to give out our home landline but my other half is not keen.
What do you do - have you had a separate line installed?? I am only running a small business walking dogs so cost is a huge factor.
Thanks for any advice

Hi
How about a 0870, 0845 etc etc number this give you a national presence and you can use it through your home line I have just taken one up its free, but there is a small charge to the caller PM me and I'll let you know who I went with - don't want to be advertising them here. I run a design firm and its ideal for me, only just started using it last week so got to see how it goes but so far so good.
Cheers
gareth.

Hi - you can always get a VoIP number if you want to use it to make calls too, it allows you to set up your own landline number in addition to the one you currently have and runs off your broadband conenction - you can visit www.yoofone.com otherwise, if you want a free 0870 number that rings to your land line, you can try www.switch-board.co.uk
If you want an 0845 number, or 2 0870 numbers (one to send faxes to your email address) please contact me, and i would be happy to set these up for you.
Good luck with the home business, kind regards
Ronnie

I was in your situation 18 months ago with my business but decided to go with an additional phone line.
If you don’t think your business will warrant an additional line may i suggest a service from BT (that’s if your with BT) if not this is a total waste of time
they have a service where by you can have 2 numbers on the same line but the ringing is different so you can tell if its a personal call or a business call. I am not sure what the service is called but give them a call and they should be able to help. The only downside is if you have others in the house make sure they know the difference between the ring tones otherwise they may pick up a business call thinking its a personal one.
Hope this helps.......Good Luck.
Brett

Thanks for all the replies. The 0870 route sounds interesting (although I think I read that they may be phasing these numbers out?) Not sure about the Voip thing, and the BT option of having another number but ringing differently sounds good. Of course this won't stop people ringing at inconsiderate times! Umm...its given me some food for thought.

Our free switchboard service allows you to choose the times each day that it will divert to your landline number. You can also set it up to announce that you have a business call when you answer the phone. If you want to take it, you press star. If you don't, just hang up and it diverts to voicemail and emails you it straight away. It also emails the telephone numbers of any calls who hangup, so that you can call them back (a great tool to win business as it shows initiative and commitment to the customer!)

Also, with regards to the 0870 numbers - they will be staying around, it's just the price of the call charged to the customer thats about to be cut!
If you need any further help, please get in touch!
