Hi all,
What would be considered a resonable conversion rate for visitors to buyers? Im currently trying Google Adwords - yesterday I had just over 50 visitors from Adwords ads - none purchased although some browse around and keep returning to the same item for 10 minutes or so.
Is Adwords really worth it, I seem to get a fair bit of traffic from it but no sales. Admitedly, this is only my second day, but spending all this money for no return is scary!

Hi,
That's a question that's very hard to give a definite answer, as there are so many factors that need to be taken into account.
1) The type of products you sell
2) How competitive a marketplace it is that you are in
3) The price range of your products
4) Whether or not they are seasonal products
Really though, 50 visitors isn't a large enough sample to start calculating conversion rates on anyway - the web is just too full of window shoppers for that. Do you have any more detailed stats covering a longer period of time?
Ali.

i would keep going for a while, the end of the day for adwords to cost anything substanial there must be other people operating in the same field attempting to get the same visitors, if you have an equally appealing site with just as good prices and products it must be worth advertising otherwise the competitors wouldnt.

Hi Atomi
Call Orbit ( they just bought us) and ask for Peter Gridneff and an entry level useability audit. This will tell you why people are not buying and how to make your site more sticky.
Good luck
Dave

It goes on the size of your site but normally it should only take half a day so expect around £200-300 if you will be another reference site and add 25% on if not.
They only have about 200 sites at the moment. Thier own site is also being redeveloped and one of the main things they are looking to add is a before and after i.e. to give examples of conversion rates before Orbit have looked at the site and after.
