I mentioned a while ago that I was planning a podcast. Well I'm pleased to say it's now up and running at www.smallbizpod.co.uk.
SmallBizPod is, I think, the UK's only podcast dedicated to small business, start-ups and enterprise. Our very own Glenn Watson (Inzvestor) features as the first entrepreneur to be interviewed - and hopefully Glenn will be a regular contributor to the show. I also managed to sort out an interview with the Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce on the Budget.
It's a first stab, so I'm sure the show will improve over time, but I hope you enjoy it. I certainly enjoyed making it!
Sadly podcasts are only really feasible for people on broadband or isdn because of the file sizes (10mb), so apologies in advance for anyone on dial-up connections.
As ever, any feedback, suggestions or interview volunteers will be much appreciated.
Best wishes
Alex

I think the idea is great and I have subscribed to the feed.
I listen to a lot of the BBC news clips and so the base standard has to be high.
My feedback on the recording:
Your voice is great, the recording very good and the structure well delivered.
You seem to Erm and err a little too often so keep a listen out for that.
The telephone recording is unfortunately not ideal but I understand the problems.
The intro music was great behind your opener but a little too loud, lower that volume a little and your voice will come through clearer.
You sound like you are talking to yourself sometimes. It may help if you have someone else in the studio to talk too, this will give your projection more assertiveness.
A great idea and keep the marketing high.

Many thanks for this terrific feedback.
I was very concerned to get the overall quality as good as I possibly could, not only for the benefit of listeners, but also because I then stand a better chance of attracting some interesting guests/interviews.
All your points are very valid. Although I've been interviewed a little on TV and radio in the past (very short interviews on news programmes), carrying a 20 minute show is something else all together. I was very conscious of the erm and errs and found that the sections I recorded later got much better. I suspect that once I've done a few my technique will improve!
I've already considered having a regular or perhaps changing co-host. It certainly would make things easier from my point of view and I suspect listeners would appreciate the change in tone and texture of voice.
I'll drop the level of the background music a little for future shows.
Glad you enjoyed it and have subscribed to the feed.
Very best wishes
