I'm starting up my business and have been researching the costs of having a debit/credit machine to process customers’ payments. The costs are steep (and my transaction amount is low, which doesn’t help!), so I am tempted not to get a machine just yet, and instead wait until the business is a little older. But I want to give my customers as many ways to pay as possible.

I want to offer customers the chance to pay by cash, standing order and cheque, and I was wondering whether Google Checkout, Nochex and Paypal can be used as an alternative to card payments, and if anyone here does this/successfully runs their business without having debit/credit card payment facilities?
