Has anyone else found that trying to do business with sports clubs i.e. football league sides/ rugby league clubs is somewhat of a nightmare. I have had a number of freelance projects over the past few weeks which has specifically required me to target sports clubs to talk to their "commercial" department or "marketing" department only to be "helped" by generally uninformed people or there only operates a 1 man marketing department and they happen to be on holiday this week and unfortunately nobody else can help (obviously with a few obvious exceptions e.g man u etc). When will these clubs realise that they are a business nowadays and should be open to new ideas and ways of making money - just generaly more receptive to marketing and business ideas. The brick wall I faced with trying to talk business with sport clubs has led me to draw on my background and contacts in the marketing world to launch a startup - www.sport-marketing.net - I would just like to hear from people with similar experiences and some feedback on this idea.
