Hi,
Im hoping to use a friend of mine who is a student for his services every now and then. I will be set up as a sole trader, but I dont want to have him as an employee.
Can I literally get him to invoice me for his work, and pay him a set fee? Will that be ok legally and accounting wise?
Or should I just pay them cash?
What are your suggestions? Thanks for any help!

Complicated both from the accounting and the legal point of view but not impossible. Firstly though what is the job, the nature of the work is core to this sort of question. If you want to talk off line then email me on info@limeone.com and I am happy to provide some advice FOC. And no, no cash payments---if you mean cash in hand back pocket stuff--- poor habit to get into at the start of the business and very costly potentially in the future.
