This is a call to see if any gay-friendly businesses out there would be interested in hosting a recruitment booth at an employment fair for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youths I am organising on behalf of the London Development Agency and PACE, London's leading counselling organisation servicing the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.
The Out Working: Youth LGBT Job Fair is scheduled for 17 August at The Resource Centre in Islington. We have lined up Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Brian Paddick, the Trades Union Congress and career coaches and executives from successful, gay-friendly businesses to guest speak, and it should generate some good news coverage. We believe it is the first event of it's kind in London.
We're looking to enlist businesses to host recruitment booths at the fair. The cost is free, and this would entail one or more representatives from your company answering questions from youths between the ages of 16 and 26 about your organisation, the various career opportunities it offers, what it looks for in candidates, how to approach interviews and so forth.
This could be a great opportunity for your business to recruit highly skilled employees and demonstrate your commitment to equality.
