I know a more common question is 'how do I submit a press release?, but I want to ask the opposite - 'how do I *find* press releases for s specific subject?'
I want to have a news page on my site with stories relating to the subject area. I would rather have the stories on my site rather than linking to other related sites or specific news sites. Obviously I can't just copy the text over because of copyright issues.
Is there an organisation I can go to to obtain press releases?

The press association will charge you a fortune.
I was listed in BRAD a while back. Large directory of publishers. I got loads of stuff. Look around for things like this.
Govt. departments love sending stuff out so think of a dept. and put a gov.uk at the end and search for their press link.

It depends what type of news you want. General current affairs or a specific subject?
Either way, try and find the PR agencies that represent companies in the areas you are interested in. They will have press lists that they send out press releases to.
There are also some services such as www.responsesource.com where you can request to receive press releases and news on various subjects. They are generally free to use for the journalist/news gatherer and make their money by charging PR agencies to receive and be able to reply to the requests.
Alternatively there are news agrigators such as www.newsnow.co.uk that allow you to search for news from across the web by subject - although you still wouldn't be able to simply copy+paste this.
As we know, writing news targetted to your audience can be a time-consuming process so unless it's one of your site's main selling points it might be worth not totally discounting an outside newsfeed - when well targetted they can do the job. If you're looking for business news, this is a service we can offer.
Hope this helps
