Hi
can anyone help?
i am trying to set up a work from home business which will be online trading/mail order only. I am looking to sell items such as computer products, console games dvd's, cd's as well as possibly gadgets & gizmos.
i am seriously considering using a dropshipper for obvious reasons such as no stock to hold.
Has anyone here tried dropshipping? does it work and is it worthwhile?
i have found various dropshippers in the UK but some are so stuck up themselves id rather not use them!
Do you know of a good value dropshipper that is also free. So many want you to sign up for £30ish.
To be honest i have signed up with one and the prices are good but ive discovered that the delivery charges aren't what i expected.
All help appreciated

while i cant help you with games etc Nemesis runs a dropshipping service aimed at startups.
W also realised that many of the companies offering this wanted huge orders so we have been running this service for 4 months and the customer base is growing.
visit www.nemesis-computers.com and go to B2B services for more info.
as a brief rundown we will deliver to your customer with your invoice upon recieving payment from you. we also offer discount rates on orders exceeding 5K per month
if you want you could give me a call on 08702 24 25 38 or an email to business@nemesis-computers.com and we can have a talk and see if we can help your business get on its feet
best of luck though even if you do not decide to use us.

Hi
I am just looking at a drop shipping business as well.
Want to share info?
Am only doing the research on dropship sources in the UK at present. Which is the one you have started using and have found the delivery higher than you expected?
Which are the ones you feel are "up themselves"?
I know what you mean about the "subscription" or "membership" they are charging. They all seem to say that it is to stop individuals signing up just to get a discount on their own purchases. However, if you are getting say 40% discount on items, you could soon recoup £30 or so membership just on your own purchases, so it wouldn't really stop people. In addition they are making money selling at those prices anyway, so, if they make a sale to someone who registers but only buys for themselves, they have made money on a sale they wouldn't probably have made otherwise!
Nevertheless, this seems to be the trend, and I guess they will do alright out of getting £30 of loads of people who register but never actually get their business off the ground.
Let me know if you want to correspond on this - problem shared and all that.
Regards
GRJ

Hi, I started up a dropshipping company selling gadgets and gizmos. My supplier is http://gizmos-uk.com. They support a web-based order system, allow you to choose between 1 day or 2-3 day delivery (Normal delivery charged at a flat rate of £3.50 for everything), and offer up to a 40% discount. They offer a very friendly service, there is no minimum order limit, no sign-up fee and also a handy web-based ordering interface.
Go to the website homepage and take a look right at the bottom of the page and read the information on dropshipping. Its pretty straightforward.
If you're looking to implement a web-site then http://www.host4apound.co.uk has serviced me very well. They offer full web hosting for £1 a month and that includes MySQL server instances etc.. webmail accounts and also, immediate implementation for OS-Commerce; which you can use to setup your web-shop for free! So, for £12 per year you can have a risk free dropship operation without having to pay for expensive web development.
Not bad eh?
I also did the whole research thing and these are the best solutions that I came up with.
Many Regards,

I'm afraid there is a sign on fee, Mark. £49.99 "admin costs".

I'm sorry about the admin charge, it is a new addition. We have had a large influx of users who sign up and then place a single order for themselves. The admin charge is in place to deter this. A serious drop shipper can make the admin fee back very rapidly, whilst the sign-up charge deters members of the public expoiting the loop hole.
