The majority of bosses are planning a great Christmas for their staff this year, according to a new survey.
The survey, by the Institute of Directors (IoD), shows that 93 per cent bosses are happy to let their staff leave early on Christmas Eve.
It goes on to reveal that 89 per cent were also opposed to businesses and shops opening on Christmas Day.
Richard Wilson, head of business policy at the IoD, said: “The run up to Christmas is a busy time for many businesses, particularly those in the retail trade, the tourist ad hospitality sector and the organisations that supply them.
“By the time of Christmas Eve, most directors and their employees are in the need of a well earned break. All the more reason to keep Christmas special and close down for the Day.”
To ensure a festive atmosphere with their workforce, 84 per cent of respondents are planning to hold a party or Christmas meal for their staff.
Additionally, in keeping with the season, 56 per cent of businesses polled send charity Christmas cards and 29 per cent give gifts to clients, contacts and other business associates.
