The winners of a competition to uncover 20 outstanding, technology-using entrepreneurs will be the stars of an exclusive exhibition due to launch next month.
For the second year running, BT Business has worked alongside Growing Business magazine to conduct a national search for 20 small-business owners who deserve recognition for both their dedication and pioneering uses of technology.
A panel of expert judges, including John Dunsmure, managing director of the Chamber of Commerce Enterprises and last year’s winners Karen Hanton, William Berry and James Lohan, have selected the 20 winners of the 2007 BT Business Essence of the Entrepreneur competition.
Judges also chose four winners to be awarded extra honours, for being the best young entrepreneur, the best female and male entrepreneur and having the most original business concept.
Each one has now been snapped by ground-breaking celebrity photographer Perou, who was charged to capture the ‘essence’ of their businesses, the results of which will be showcased at a high-profile exhibition at the gallery@oxo on London’s South Bank from November 14 – December 2 2007.
David Garrett, the founder of Stick and Go who pioneered a wall tile that does not need cementing or grouting is hanging from a wall in his portrait, whereas Jamie Wallace, founder of urban walking route planner Walkit.com has been photographed from above with arrows directing his journey.
The full list of winners will be announced in next month’s Growing Business magazine.
“Technology has developed so rapidly in the business world and it is great to see small business enterprises embracing it to help grow their companies,” said Bill Murphy, managing director, BT Business.
“BT Business is delighted to honour these entrepreneurs and applaud the power of their ideas.”
