Hi
Am a newbie, am in the process of starting up my own company. i have been working full time and with 3 kids that proved a bit difficult have been looking into working from home for a while, but a few weeks ago i was laid off from my job.
So I have decided to try to get my business up and running as there just doesnt seem to be any part time jobs around.
I am starting an Ironing Service, I have my first client (a friend) but am finding getting any other bookings a bit difficult I have put posters up everywhere I go (newsagents, Gyms, play areas) have done leaflet drops about 1000 so far have put an ad in our local free paper. My main target I think is busy mums who want to spend there free time with there family not doing hours of ironing so this is where I have mainly targeted the leaflets I have delivered have been to mainly up-market estates where the percentage of full time workers is high
Not sure if I am expecting too much too soon or if I should think about some other form of advertising
I have set up a website
http://www.de-creasedironing.moonfruit.com
I would welcome any suggestions especially from anyone who has set up an ironing service before
Thanks
Deb

Hi Deb
I like the look of your website. I have a couple of minor comments on it...
There is a spelling mistake in cleaning (ceaning) on Ironing Services page.
About us page: I think in the first sentance the first 'family' should be families.
I would remove the word 'aim' from the next sentance. Tell the customer you always deliver not that you aim to deliver....
As for the marketing, my best suggestion is maybe to target a different market. How about the single businessman etc? I've had plenty of bosses who got someone else to take/collect their washing/ dry cleaning for them....
1.You would not be tied down to collecting and delivering at set times as they would be in the office all day (unlike mum's who are out and about).
2. They would have the available surplus income to pay for a service that they didn't want to do (or couldn't do) themselves?
I would try getting a couple of appointments to meet with office managers/bosses, and explain how you can help their business as if they use the service and promote it to their staff, everyone will always be well turned out (good for sales), and they can concentrate on what they do best (their business).
Obviously with busy business professionals the cleaning business may also be of interest to them also.
