ive had a search through and cant find a topic....just after a bit of advice.
i work from home and dont really want to get a 2nd phone line fitted as i am planning on moving offices as soon as i possibly can, well, im looking for a 0845 or 0870 but to be diverted to my mobile, however, the high call costs i have to abandon that idea, i have seen however the new 0700 numbers....
if you were to phone a company with a 0700 would it put you off?
or does anyone know where i can get 0870/0845 diverted to my mobile without the forwarding costs?
sorry its a long one!

Hi Rachael,
You could try
http://www.blackboxtelecom.co.uk/07.php
for 070 calls that go to your landline and then go to your mobile if no answer
not sure what the call charges are though!!
There are loads of other info on the website, might be worth emailing them,
with what your looking for
Not sure on the 0700 numbers confuses me as much as the 192 changing to the 118 episode, but wouldnt stop me from ringing 0700!

Don't get a 0700, I would never call one!
We use 08700 which were free to set up and we even earn a little bit from incoming calls.

Hi Rachel,
Yes try Blackbox telecom services. They have free 0870 with voicemail, 0845, virtual receptionist and so on. Also you could try www.encoded.co.uk. The 07 personal number diverted to your mobile could be expensive, you'll have to pay for the cost of the diverted calls and I think sometime it can put people off, why not try an 0870 or 0845 then have a voicemail set-up or a Call Answering Service.
Good luck,

Hi
0700 numbers at the BT K Rate are expensive to call and I wouldn't recommend using one as your main point of contact. To me any 07 number be it a personal number or a mobile number makes a company look small and possibly here today gone tomorrow. When you hear on Watchdog about those people that have been ripped off by builders etc. that take their money but don't do the job they always tend to only use a mobile number.
The 0700 numbers are charged at the following rates to the caller (approx): 37.5p peak, 25p off-peak and 12.5p at weekends including vat.
A couple of years ago Telco's did pay call revenue out to the user but about two years ago Oftel barred revenue payments from calls made to 07 personal numbers.
Having said that we do have customers that do use them but not many as most want to make it as cheap as possible for their customers to call them.
If anyone would like any further help please email at the following address: jamie@blackboxtelecom.co.uk
I would answer questions on here but find that this forum is pretty much unuseable since the server change a couple of month ago (it was only today that I read that you can sign in before each post!).
Hope that helps.

Hello Rachael
Take it you want to divert the Non-geographic number to a mobile mostly ?
The call costs have to be carried somewhere, by you or your customers. My advice is this (completely impartial, I am a Telecoms guy but currently do not deal with selling phone numbers) - I personally would not call the personal numbers 07 as call costs are high, I would most likely call local call numbers, freephone 0800/0808 or 0845 low-calls.
It depends on your services, if you have an existing client base you need to call you regularly (i.e. you offer a service and get a lot of calls from people above and beyond normal support service) then get a 0700 and let them pay the costs.
If you want to attract customers you need an 0800/0845 or a local STD code number if you are covering one area.
You will not want to change phone numbers as you are moving so really you need an 08 style number - depends on how you are advertising and who calls you whether you go for 0800 or 0845 but the costs will be higher to divert to a mobile.
The other posters have explained things pretty well, and the blackbox telecom website gives you more info on your options, 0870 is another way of saving a bit of money, but to attract customers maybe not so good as people are more aware now that they are 'national-rate'. If there is somebody listed near you with freephone etc - who would you call?
Regards
Simon
