Hi,
Does anyone know anything about Product Liability Insurance? I only sell from my website so no members of the public every visit any premesis, I know that insurance isn't required for that. But what if, say, someone bought an Iron and due to an electrical fault it burns their house down? Who holds liability, the retailer or the wholesaler?
Cheers.

Not sure of the legalities...I expect you having sold the goods will be the first port of call in such an event. We do not sell direct to the public...yet. Although as a supplier we have insurance but this covers us as we act purely as "consultants" and do not handle the goods directly. http:

Sorry not to clever on the computer but the above takes you to some info. I would be interested to hear from companies like yours who they are insured by as I had a nightmare trying to get cover when looking at selling a wide range of products online.

That info on Business Link is an interesting read, although to me it seems even less clear cut now after reading that! All products on the site are sent directly by the wholesalers, thus I never have any contact with them. Im wondering what effect this has on the requirements and where blame would lay?
Jonny - Have you dealt with that company for this specific type of insurance, or is it just a general recommendation? Most companies I contacted do not want to help in this regard.
