The majority of UK workers are happy in their jobs with no intention of looking further afield, according to new research.
The survey, by employment law firm Peninsula, shows that 81 per cent of employees are happy with their jobs, with 34 per cent confident that they will be promoted in the next 12 months.
Furthermore, 74 per cent claim that they have no plans to change jobs, a figure that will please employers as January can often prove a popular month among staff looking for new job opportunities.
Peter Done, managing director at Peninsula, said: “It’s great to see job satisfaction amongst employees in the UK. This healthy environment will mean more effective and efficient businesses and will ensure that they operate at their full potential.”
Peninsula believes that one of the reasons for such positively among workers is due to the awards employers are offering to entice and keep them happy.
However, the group highlights the low number of employees who believe they are in line for promotion.
Done said: “This can be summarised in saying that opportunities within companies may be limited and secondly people may be happy to stay in the job they are in. Again the whole survey reflects the fact that employees are happy in their job, which may be a good enough reason not to want to seek promotion.”
