Hi,
I've been asked to do some work for the organisation where I used to be employed until recently.
(I have left and run my own limited company, PC repairs, networks etc)
Basically it is a short term contract, 2 days a week for 6 weeks.
I will be installing PC's on staff desks and installing the operating system and transfering some of the users data.
Before I start they have asked to see my public liability cover and professional indemnity cover. I have the former but not the PI cover.
Does it sound reasonable for them to ask me for PI cover? What kind of approximate cost could I expect to pay for this cover?
Many thanks,
D
RE: Professional indemnity insurance cover?

An interesting topic and one that has been covered on several forums recently.
Professional Indemnity cover only covers you whilst you have paid up premiums. If you have cover now and undertake the work but end up getting sued in a years time and don't have valid cover at that stage then your claim will not be covered. Make sense?
In a nutshell. If you do not have a policy in place when you are challenged/sued then you will not be covered.
If you undertake the work then make sure you are covered for the warrantied time afterwards.
Cover is often £130+ per year. You will often need to submit your CV before cover is given (to be assessed for risk)
Hope this info helps.
