Hi,
I am considering opening a extreme sports shop in my home town as I know there are very few specialising in this area.
I would like to sell clothes and hardware in the areas of skateboarding, surfing, BMX & mountain biking and snowboarding. The rise in kids in my area doing this is massive.
This is, I have no idea where to start. Who should I contact, what legal issues are there, how much would it cost etc.
Any advice is greatly welcomed from someone who has done something similar or has looked into a project like this.

If you are looking for free advice then your local business link can help normally free of charge for a couple of hours. We used a consultancy when we set up as we wanted advice quickly and also wanted someone who had experience of our type of business.

Go for it!!
In our Town a shop set up just before Christmas last year and is doing very well.
The kids are always in there for something or other.
Are you or have you got a Skate park? If not go to your local council and ask to speak to the Tourist Information Officer and see if you cant get one going. This is what is happening in our Town and when we do get it the kids will be off the streets at last and businesses in the area should see an uplift in sales due to more people coming into the town.

Hi,
I would just like to say I think your idea is good and definately a constant growing industry. Which is definately shown in the recent music trend, just look at Avril Lavigne as an example.
The second post is sound advice, contact you local business link who will be able to help you with your plan and give free advice for most of your questions. They can also give you a basis and foundation on where to start.
Best of luck !!
